Another detail for the realization of a beautiful headboard with paint is choosing an original shape for the headboard. Yes, even in a painted version, the headboard can take on different shapes: square, rectangle, half-circle or superimposed shapes for an original colour zoning, it’s up to you to unleash your creative talents!

You can also put this practical piece of furniture for everyday use and hold all sorts of objects like magazines, beauty products, etc. By adding wire baskets to a sloping ladder, you can multiply the potential storage space. However, be careful not to overload it if you want to preserve the furniture’s pure aestheticism.

The decorations placed on it will instantly stand out. The advantage of square wall shelves is that you can choose the number and size, and then assemble them as you wish.

To display your most precious knick-knacks or to keep your current book within reach, or to store your office accessories and also to display your favourite small decorative objects, these wooden shelves are ideal. Dreamcatchers are available in a wide range of beautiful colours. In terms of choice, it’s easy to get lost. The idea is to find a wall in a colour that contrasts with the colours of your dream catcher. For example, if you have chosen a darker shade of grey for your bedroom wall, you will need a dream catcher in white or lighter shades. On the other hand, if you have opted for a lighter shade of grey for your walls, then you will need to find a dream catcher with a darker colour to define the shape and pattern of your dream catcher.

You can find a wide range of creative stickers and self-adhesive labels. You will have more freedom to personalise your stickers if you customise them. This is your chance to be original and make distinctive stickers with your photos or name, sayings and quotes, humorous characters or even portraits of your little family. You can also try stickers all in 3D for an added effect.

10. Use Wall-mounted Planters

Use Wall-mounted Planters
Source: Pinterest

While living in an urban jungle, why can’t we think of plants to dress up our homes? At the moment, plants are everywhere: on the floor, on the furniture, hanging from the ceiling… So why shouldn’t they have a place on the wall? Of course, you have to find the right containers to protect your wall from the moisture of the soil and the plant. But it’s a really nice way to bring life to your wall decoration.

Wall-mounted planters are also an advantage if you don’t have a lot of space in your bedroom. House plants will totally enhance your interior and create a cool bubble in your bedroom. Be careful, plants must be chosen according to the exposure of your bedroom to sunlight. In order to combine styling with benefit, choose depolluting plants which, in addition to being beautiful, will work silently to purify the air you breathe.

11. Wow with a large-scale Art

Wow with a large-scale Art
Source: Pinterest

It is impossible to talk about wall styling or wall decoration without mentioning paintings. It is an object of art that crosses time and eras. In a bedroom, it brings sophistication without weighing down the aesthetic and can be the centrepiece of a decoration. Art also allows you to express your uniqueness. Often original, these statement pieces rejuvenate your decoration and give it a boost.

Avoid colour imbalance inside the bedroom by choosing the colours of the paintings to be reminiscent of the shades of the carpet or the curtains or vice versa. Care must be taken with its exposure to light. Choose its place of hanging correctly because without proper planning, you may end up making unnecessary holes and damaging your walls.

12. Hang Decorative Wall Plates

In recent times, we find plates coming out of the cupboards and getting diverted as decorative accessories in their own right. What’s interesting is that it’s easy to find them in good condition at a flea market and not to ruin yourself for the wall decoration. Practical and easy to obtain.

You can also keep them natural or have fun painting them to create a more dynamic effect on the wall. Above the bed or the bedside table, placed in a discreet pattern, they can add a fine wall decoration to your bedroom walls without overloading the room. You will give your interior a slightly retro look. A very trendy style of wall styling that allows a lot of freedom!

13. Add Antique wall sconces

And yes! Vintage is very fashionable at the moment. This old-fashioned style, reminiscent of old rustic homes, can impress with its authentic charm and is very useful for styling. It can also fulfil its primary role and will not visually clutter the area around the bed.

You can fix the sconces above a picture, a photograph or any other element that you want to star and create a very trendy and warm decoration. The spotlight effect offers a little art gallery feel without overdoing it. Pay attention to the colour of the light and the nature of the bulb as they are the most important factors in creating a warm atmosphere inside your bedroom.

14. Display your interests

Display your interests

Are you a fan of cycling or board sports, or perhaps a musician? Display your passion on the walls by diverting your objects from their primary function. This has been a real trend in recent years on the walls of the most sophisticated interiors. A surfboard or a skateboard also guarantees a particularly successful result.

You can also hang a guitar or violin and watch the beauty of your instruments highlighted in this way! More than a décor, its presence will remind you to free up some time in your day to play. More effective than your reminders about the schedule! So, display your passions with pride! They will speak volumes about your aspirations!

15. Go for Pom Pom Garland with Photo Clips

Do you know woollen pompons, widely used in the fashion world? They are also used in the world of decoration to brighten up the interior with their very “fluffy” side. And here again, the possibilities are endless. From bright or pastel shades to multicoloured or monochrome versions, the choice is yours.

You can hang them vertically or in any pattern to make great decor for unique and modern walls. Pair it with photo clips for they will nicely hold your beloved photographs and close-to-heart memories. With a series of subtle coloured pompons, you can give a soft and ethereal finish to your bedroom.

16. Hang up a few antique pieces

Instead of running to the pricey décor shop and billing everything on the shelf, why not turn to the antique pieces? Your weekend stroll to an antique store or local flea market will do. You can also bring your family’s heirloom pieces back to life. Don’t go overboard and moderation is often advised as creating a total look out of antiques will not achieve the desired contemporary effect.

One of the most famous elements that can easily find its place in your decoration is the jar for example. In the past, it was used as a container for water or other liquids. Now, it gives cachet to a room, and will bring to your interior a certain touch of royalty.

17. Build wall-to-wall floating shelves

Build wall-to-wall floating shelves

This is a sleek, stylish and functional idea! The whole set offers a stylish and elegant decor while providing a certain solidity. It is ideal for decorating a wall above a sideboard. This way you can also make the most of your vertical space. Fall in love with these shelves by creating contrasts between the light shades of the grey wall and the sparkling colours of the decorative objects.

Vases, candleholders, knick-knacks and frames are all objects that can enrich the wall decoration of your bedroom when they are harmoniously arranged on shelves. Vary their nature, while assembling them with a certain coherence in the chosen colours.

18. A corner bookcase

A corner bookcase

Once confined to its sole function of storage, the corner bookcase has become so popular in recent decades that it has become a must-have item of furniture and a modular decorative piece that can be adapted according to your desires. Take advantage of corners and unused spaces to install corner bookcases. This way, any innocuous corner can be easily transformed into a beautiful space to display your decorative objects.

The bookcase is the ultimate decorative and functional piece of furniture. It allows you to store books and magazines, as well as to display decorative objects and a series of frames. Choose a corner bookcase for an original bedroom wall decoration and to save space.

19. Try Light Strings

Try Light Strings
Source: Pinterest

Bring a luminous wall decoration with a string of lights. The advantage of a string of lights is that they are an inexpensive and trendy way to decorate your bedroom. It is available in many colours and shapes. It can be short or very long. In other words, it offers infinite possibilities for decoration.

Once lit, this type of light creates a real enchantment. A magical, cocooning or warm atmosphere which you will love it. What type of lights should you choose? It’s easy. You can find all styles, even for small budgets: bags of lights, star garlands, flake garlands, very discreet metal wires, etc.

20. Hang an accent Wall Clock

Hang an accent Wall Clock
Source: Pinterest

A common object in our homes – the wall clocks are being transformed. Today, its primary role has taken a back seat, as timers and electronic clocks are now present in many devices in the home, including our mobile phones and household appliances.

How to choose an accent wall clock? In recent years, we have seen an escalation of interest in mega wall clocks where they have simply the large hands and numbers (in different versions like Roman). To adopt a modern wall clock, choose them with more delicate lines. Shiny materials make a nice contrast with dark coloured grey walls. You will forget the primary function of your clock! And yet, it will tell you the time with panache.

A Pro Tip

While it is important to choose the right type of styling ideas for your walls, it is equally important to think about the paint! Paints have an unsuspected effect on the atmosphere of your bedroom and also on the impression of space. Choosing the right paint brand is the utmost requirement for this and that should be done in a well-thought-out manner.

You should take the time to examine the paint brands to make sure you find the right brand that best suits your expectations and the atmosphere you want to create. Wondering how to choose the right paint brand? To make it easier for you, we have done the research and come up with the top paint brands for the shade grey – all from the lightest to the darkest.

Asian Paints, Berger Paints, Nerolac Paints, Dulux Paints, Shalimar Paints, and Indigo Paints are the top picks with rich pigments, high covering power and a very high overall quality. It is very difficult to pick a particular one in this area, as these brands generally offer comparable quality. However, the best brands for the lighter shades of grey are generally Nerolac Paints, Dulux Paints and Asian Paints, while Indigo Paints and Berger Paints perform well for darker shades of grey.

Final Words

There is no shortage of ideas for prettying up your plain grey bedroom walls in style. You know, just adding a few decorative items to your walls is enough to bring a new look to your cocoon and make it even warmer and more welcoming. All that you require is finding a balance between a decoration that is too basic and one that is too busy.

Things To Know Before Home Interior Painting

Paint colours may drastically alter your home’s ambiance and interior design. Painting could speak volumes with strong colour splashes or serve as a soothing background to a more subdued environment. In any case, paint is among the simplest and cheapest interior decorating tools. There are, nevertheless, a few things to keep in mind before you start painting that will make your task a lot simpler. After reading them, you might genuinely love painting.

1. Room Preparation Makes a Significant difference

Source: istockphoto

It is common knowledge that painting is much simpler when there are no obstacles in the process. This entails completely emptying the room, or as close to it as conceivable. Move major furniture items to the middle of the room if you’re painting it, and drape them with old sheets or table cloths. While wiping down the walls may appear to be an unnecessary procedure, it is crucial. Debris, dust, and oils from your hands have built up on the walls, irrespective of whether they are visible or not. The painting will stick to the walls better if this debris is removed before painting. Tape off adjoining surfaces, window frames, and lighting fixtures or outlet coverings, and also patch in any nail-holes or crevices with spackling. Covering the ground with drop cloths or rolls of paper.

2. Try Out Different Paint Colours

Source: Unsplash

It’s tough to predict how a colour will feel on your walls and under varying illumination. If you have a specific hue in mind, purchasing a swatch is a smart option. Let the paint dry completely before examining its hue at different times of the day and night. This will give you an accurate representation of how the colour will appear on your walls. If you’re not sure about the shade, get a few swatches and test them out. You could be surprised by what colours you actually prefer, and even more so by how bad what you believed was your favourite hue on the swatch appears in your house.

3. Paint a Room – Bring Color Into Your Life

Source: Unsplash

For some people, colour may be overpowering. However, don’t select white, off white, or beige because you’re afraid of colour. You could create a certain vibe in the space by experimenting with a few different colours. Darker hues, for example, give the room substance and dimension. This is especially the case if the space is vast and the ceilings are high. Vibrant, lighter colours, on the other hand, may dramatically open up a tiny room, including a guest bathroom with no natural sunlight, and make it feel much wider. Basically, don’t be frightened of colours —try out different combinations to discover what works best—you could be delighted!

4. Consider the Finish You Choose

Interestingly, not only is colour important, but so is the finishing, or sheen. High-gloss paint surfaces are more resilient and simpler to maintain, but they might draw attention to flaws in your walls. A flat paint finishing, however, will cover these flaws. Flat paint, on the other hand, is more easily damaged. In the majority of cases, an eggshell finishing is the ideal choice. It has some sheen, is still simple to clean, doesn’t draw attention to flaws, and isn’t as readily damaged as flat paint.

5. Paint Can Be Altered

Source: Unsplash

You pick a colour after painting a patch on the walls and examining it in various lights. However, after the walls are done, you might find that what seemed excellent in a tiny portion is too overpowering. Paint, thankfully, is a low-cost and easy-to-change choice for improving the appearance of a space. You could simply paint over a colour you don’t like. Additionally, if the colour is too overbearing for all 4 of the walls, try painting one of them as an accent wall. It’s possible that just a splash of colour was all you needed.

6. Calculating the Amount of Paint You’ll Need

Source: Unsplash

Nothing could be more aggravating than having a paint shortage midway through a painting job. Similarly, you wouldn’t want to use far too much paint. Here’s a useful paint estimator to get you started. There are some factors to consider when deciding how much paint to use. To commence, you must determine the size of your space. Next, consider how many layers of paint you’d want to apply. If you prime the surfaces beforehand, one coat may be sufficient, while if the surfaces are not primed, several coats are frequently required.

7. Priming Reduces Paint Costs

Source: istockphoto

When it comes to priming, it’s a crucial stage in the preparation phase. Primer coats the walls and creates a foundation for the paints to attach to. Primer will become even more vital once you’ve filled in all the gaps and crevices. When paint is applied straight on spackling, a flashing or a shining area appears on the walls. The primer prevents this. Primer, on the other hand, will not let you skip the process of washing the walls. Whether you’re using primer or otherwise, cleaning the surfaces is still crucial.

8. Brush Prior to Rolling

Source: Unsplash

Polishing the edges pre or post rolling the walls is a perplexing notion for many people. You must, nevertheless, brush before rolling the walls. Paint approximately an inch outside from edges, the ceilings, and the baseboards with a superior-quality brush. These are spots that a roller will not be able to reach. Following brushing, use the roller to smooth out any paint brush marks that have extended beyond the depths of the corner. This will result in a level, uniform surface. It could be difficult to scrape the edges and corners, but it is important while painting.

9. Invest in Quality Supplies

Source: istockphoto

Aside from a decent paint brush, you’ll want to double-check that you have all of the necessary equipment before starting work. Roller extenders and a robust step ladder will be included. Roller extenders enable users to reach higher walls without having to extend their hands too far or standing on toes all the time. When brushing your walls, a solid step ladder will make it easier to reach the upper corners. Both these products will save you from injuring yourself by preventing you from overstretching your body.

Bedroom Seating Ideas

With so much happening in the house, your bedroom is a sanctuary and a peaceful place. It’s sort of like the “weekend” of your home—the room you’re going to unwind in at the end of your working day. There are a lot of ways to make a seating area in your bedroom! You’re going to want to think about what your needs and expectations are, the shape and size of your space, how you can use the home furniture that you already own, and other considerations to come up with a design strategy for your bedroom.

1. Seating for Two With a View

This kind of seating area looks relaxed and lounge-like—a perfect concept for spaces that can fit in bigger furniture. The setup is the best spot to drink your morning coffee, read a book or just sit in the sunshine.

2. Cozy and Compact

It makes a comfortable seating area even though there isn’t a lot of space here—and with a bookcase, it creates a nice reading nook. There are also extra seats at the foot of the bunk, and the footstools could be used to arrange blankets, put on your shoes, or put up your legs when you’re reading!

3. Simple and Streamlined

This master bedroom has a long bench for a lounge area at the bed end. It provides a polishing effect which manages to make the bed appear finished as there is no footboard. The bench doesn’t take up a lot of space and can be used to spread out the sheets or to hold the covers and throw-pillows.

4. A Place to Read

The lounge idea is perfect for reading and relaxing in the master bedroom. It doesn’t take up a lot of space, and it’s perfect for a smaller bedroom where you want another seating option.

5. Bedside Manners

This elegant bedroom seating design includes a martini table and a bedside chair. It offers a spot to sit down, drink coffee or tea, and get absorbed in a wonderful book. This is a really sophisticated look and blends with the whole style of the master bedroom.

6. Up On A Throne

This master bedroom sitting concept is enjoyable and efficient! The bedroom is turned into a sleek, multifunctional space by adding a shelf. Space may be used as a work space or vanity, but it doesn’t take up about as much space as a complete piece of furniture.

7. Tucked Away

This kind of seating area is perfect if you want to make use of a clumsy nook or odd space in your master bedroom! It’s not going to act as a lazy reading nook, but it’s a casual, practical and economical way to connect a desk/vanity to a smaller bedroom!

8. End-Of-The-Bed Sofa

Please remember that this concept takes up more room and may not be as versatile as a chair. However, it provides ample seating space for two, blends right into the elegant theme, and makes excellent use of the long bedroom area.

9. Bench with a View

This is the best way to set up a usable seating space. It provides a lot of surface seating which can be more versatile and less pricey than a chair.  While it’s not furniture that you could always lean back on or lounge/read, it’s a comfortable and space-saving  addition.

10. Loveseat Oasis

You probably need additional floor space to make the setup work. It provides enough seating for 1-2 people if you have enough space to make sure the bed isn’t crowded. A love seat adds warmth and makes the master bedroom more of a multipurpose space.

11. The Corner Nook

This retro reading nook can seat only one, and it isn’t the perfect option for couples—but if you only need one nightstand and one chair, it’s the ideal setup.

12. One Pouf, Two Pouf

Getting two poufs incompatible designs but entirely different looks is a perfect way to add personality to a neutral color scheme, or a minimalist style bedroom. They’re incredibly versatile, and you can transfer them around everywhere you need them.

13. Solo Seating

Solo seating is practical for people who have an occasional desire to sit down or put things down. It’s somewhat more of an artistic attribute because it’s not very efficient like a lounge chair.

14. Chaise Style

This wide chair is the ultimate lazy lounge spot. Remember that this is a huge piece of furniture which takes up substantial space. It’s only a one-seater, but if you have dogs or kids that want to snuggle with you when you’re reading or enjoying your morning coffee, it’s a perfect option.

15. Formal Proportions

The two comfortable and modern chairs match in proportion to the width of the room, providing a wonderful place for two people to sit down and talk or relax. It’s perfect for small and medium bedrooms, since the chairs don’t take up a lot of space. It looks plush and cozy, but the symmetry makes it formal and elegant so that it can fit into a range of designs!

16. Bay Windows For Two

This arrangement provides a more private bedroom seating area that’s perfect for intimate conversation, reading, or just relaxing in the sunshine!

17. Nightstand Seating

This look is a brilliant idea to optimize floor space, as it allows seats to be tucked up under the desk. It’s a trendy, casual and compact sitting environment.

18. Elevated Bench

As a sitting area, it’s much more relaxed and formal than a traditional bench. It’s a perfect idea to sit quietly at the end of the bed, appearing casual but yet providing an elegant and refined look to the place. The pouf provides a spot to put your feet up. You can even use it as a side table.

19. Rest and Retreat

If you’ve a lot of spare space in your apartment, try these big upholstered armchairs. They provide seats for two, so each person has a big chair to kick back and get cozy in. This style of sitting is extremely soft and soothing, as long as you have space for furniture parts like this.

20. Trendy Side Chair

You can add a single dining chair next to your nightstand for a simple, understated reading nook if you really need to maximize space in your master bedroom.

All About Focal Point in Room Interiors

Hello everyone, here I am, back with another blog sharing some more tips on Interior Styling. My last blog was all about tricks to make your space look larger than life. This time let me share something more pleasing to the eyes… like a Focal point.

So, what exactly is a Focal point in a room and most importantly why is it required?

Living room focal point

Let us say someone enters your living room, you have a Sofa with cushions or a runner thrown on it, some puffs, a coffee table, a beautiful painting hung up, a rug in the centre,
etc..

Now all of this in one place can make the room look cluttered as the eye wouldn’t have one or maybe two things to capture its attention, so it would just keep wandering, trying to settle on something which should have been adding a different character to the room. That is when the need of a Focal Point arises. Use of a few beautiful but bold objects or colours which will give your room definition and character.

Let us elaborate more on this with the help of some reference images:

Focal Point of the room

For instance, let us take a Living room or a Bedroom which is completely painted white in colour. Even the flooring carries a similar tone. Now, that would seem boring right? …No, I am not at all saying that white is a boring or dull colour. White by itself is a character, its peaceful and calm properties can give any place an aura of fulfilment. In psychology, white is seen as the colour of new beginnings, of wiping the slate clean, so to speak. It is the blank canvas waiting to be written upon. While white is not stimulating to the senses, it opens the way for the creation of anything the mind can conceive. So, why not create something on this blank canvas? It can be a striking piece of furniture or a large painting with a hue of colours. Make that as your Focal point, something that captures and holds the attention initially and then the eye smoothly glides around the entire room with everything falling into place.

The same can be achieved in many ways, say a bold colour of rug or a big metallic hanging light. A lot more things like coffee table décor or some antiques can do the trick. Just trust your instincts. Deciding on a focal point will give all the pieces in your room purpose.

That is all for today folks …I hope this trick helps bring out the best in your house by reflecting your true self.

There is nothing better than a clean, organised wardrobe. Not only does it streamline your morning routine, but all the extra space also gives you an excuse to expand your wardrobe (or just to reimagine new combinations, now that you can see everything clearly).  Try some of these wardrobe organization and storage ideas to declutter your wardrobe and make the most of the space. There’s something here for every budget and style.

1. Keep Floors Clear

Keep Floors Clear
Picture: Collected

Not everyone is cut out for exposed shelving. Keep the floors clear for a clutter-free, elevated environment, if you are a minimalist. A leaning floor mirror and an armchair adds some dimension to this entire look.

2. Tuck it Away

Tuck it Away
Picture: Collected

If the space is multipurpose, tuck everything behind the closed wardrobe doors. In this Gail Davis- designed closet, the little vanity is a fun little surprise that also keeps you organized. While the striped penny tile floor complements the navy paint, the orange mirror picks up on the warmth exuded by the curtains and the wallpaper accents

3. Install a Wall Shelf

Install a Wall Shelf
Picture: Collected

You can display your prettiest items in your bedroom to double as decor if you have run out of room in your wardrobe. If you want to make it an étagère, add a multi-level wall shelf. Like in this case, designers have painted the wall shelf white so that it blends in with the wall and doesn’t take up much of the real estate. Want an extra trick up your sleeve? Using brackets as an extra place to hang things helps you make more of your wall space.

4. Get Creative With Bulky Clothes

Shoe organizers – although primarily handy with shoes – can also be used for bulky items like sweaters (if you don’t want them to accidentally stretch out on a hanger). You should also roll the sweaters before you stow them away.

5. Use Trays for Your Jewelry

Put your fragrances and jewelry on a tray and always leave some room for flowers. This makes it easily accessible as well and gives a polished vibe.

6. Use the Vanity

Use the Vanity
Picture: Collected

Use your vanity drawers for smaller items such as wallets, accessories and jewelry. It will be even better if you have a drawer organizer.

7. Try a Clothing Rack

Try a Clothing Rack

A freestanding clothing rack will be a good solution irrespective of whether you don’t even have a wardrobe in your bedroom to begin with or if your tiny wardrobe is already packed to the brim. Besides, having your clothes out in the open will force you to keep them organized and nice, instead of in a wardrobe avalanche pile.

8. Organize Seasonally

Organize Seasonally
Picture: Collected

Put your out-of-season clothing in plastic organizers, or opt for rolling crates if you have empty space under your bed. This storage solution requires no power tools. In fact, all you will need is a bed skirt.

9. Hang your Purses

Hang your Purses

For hanging purses in your closet on the hanger rod, shower hooks are perfect. In fact, this trick ensures that the handles do not misshapen.

10. Organize Thoughtfully

Organize Thoughtfully

Setting your wardrobe into zones based on the way you think about it is the best way to go about wardrobe organization. For instance, when you are getting dressed, do you first think in terms of garment type, or occasion, or by season? Keep this in mind while arranging your clothes.

11. Keep your Shelves in Shape

Keep your Shelves in Shape
Picture: Collected

Shelf dividers are absolutely lovely. Not only do these handy organizers have the ability to keep different items separate, they also prevent piles from toppling over. This way, you can stack your sweaters way higher.

12. Wicker Baskets

Wicker Baskets

Storage baskets look chic on open-shelves, as well as keep your junk out-of-sight. Besides, they are also pretty inexpensive.

13. Style your Wardrobe

Style your Wardrobe
Picture: Collected

Some easy ways to add character to your wardrobe are adding a piece of art, a mirror, fun colors or a wallpaper. Stay away from books, stuffed animals and flowers. These items collect dust and will make your clothes feel less fresh.

14. Create a Jewelry Wall

Build custom organization systems to prevent your jewelry from getting tangled. For example, in this wardrobe you can keep them on a tray on one of the shelves or hang them on the wall.

15. Hang Strategically

Hanging up clothes without even thinking about it is the easiest way to end up with a disorganized closet.  Hang blouses, tops, and skirts above built-in shelves, and pants and long dresses when nothing is underneath – to keep things sectioned off.

16. Use Wasted Wall Space

Try this trick instead of hanging belts, scarves and other accessories on hangers and taking up valuable rod space. You can create a personalized display for your collection by attaching a towel bar to an unused space.

17. Try a Shoe Organizer

Try a Shoe Organizer
Picture: Collected

Boots are generally considered the most troublesome elements of a wardrobe. This is because they seem to topple over at the slightest touch. You can safely house five pairs in the “footprint” of one with the help of a special boot organizer.

18. Use an Entire Room

You can turn a part of your office into your wardrobe if you have a space issue. You will have an entire room to stash your stuff in, that way.

19. Hang your Rod Higher

Hanging your rod higher not only keeps your coats and gowns from dragging through floor dust,  it also frees up space for a second row of clothing or a hamper. Let this wardrobe from A House in the Hills give you some inspiration.

20. Put Shoes on the Door

This is the best part about owning high heels. They are designed for this ingenious storage hack.  To squeeze extra storage out of your closet, hang rails on the inside of your door. We hope we’ve made wardrobe organization simpler for you with the help of these ideas and hacks. Happy organizing!

Space Saving Furniture Ideas

As time goes by more people are gravitating towards houses with a small area. One-bedroom apartments are a favourite, especially amongst recently employed. While the space is limited, people would like to have the basic furniture.  Following are some furniture ideas which can help you reduce clutter and save some space.

Benches/Storage Benches

Though benches seem to fit in a garden or classroom environment, their ample seating space and versatility have made them a home decor trend. There are many variants of benches available. You can get them all wooden for a natural look or get a cushion for better comfort. Benches with storage make for a great addition in your homes. It could either be open in front or top. You can keep extra cushions and cushion covers along with children’s toys in this space.

Storage Stools

Storage stools are a fun and easy way to store all of your children’s toys. These are collapsable stools made of laminate or cardboard. You can easily fold the outward cover on top of it and it’s ready for you. They come in prints which will suit a sophisticated living room or your child’s bedroom.

Two-Seater Sofas

Source: unsplash

3 seater sofas have been the seating standard for many homeowners. However, since everyone likes sitting near the ends of the sofa, the middle seat goes vacant. Instead of a three-seater, go for a two-seater sofa. It gets completely utilised, opens up some space, it is comfortable and more intimate than a three-seater.

Coffee tables with Nested Stools

Source: Pexels

The nested stool trend has recently made landfall in the interior decor realm. This coffee table and stool combo are so designed that the stools can completely be engulfed by the table once placed underneath it. You get the stools with or without cushioning. It is a great addition to outdoor sitting areas, in gazebos or on the balcony.

Shelves and Desks

Wall Desks

Desks anywhere other than the study or children’s room take up a lot of space and don’t get much constructive use out of it. The best alternative to this is wall desks. These are convenient wall mounted desks with some shelf space on them. They are a good area to stop and work on your laptop for a few minutes or jot something down on a piece of paper. While these can be mounted at standing height, you can lower to a sitting height and add a chair.

Wall Shelves

Source: unsplash

Souvenirs and other collectable decor help give a room some character. However, showcasing them is tedious work. You require large shelves and showcases which take up more space than necessary. Floating or wall shelves are a good alternative. They are simple planks of 2 by 4 which can be mounted equally spaced wherever you want your display to go. They are easy to place and adjust according to your collectables. You can either go for a simple-looking plank or something more ornate.

Corner Mounted Shelves

Corners are the worst utilised part of the house. No furniture fits it well and there is always some area which goes unused. Corner shelves are a great way to utilise this area. You can decide the amount of stuff you want to place and choose the height. This helps utilise that space while clearing up a lot of areas that a conventional shelf might take.

Beds

Trundle Beds

It is difficult to have friends over for a bash in a one-bedroom apartment. It is even tougher when you need to find a place for one of your friends to spend the night. Trundle beds are designed to look like a normal bed, but under it, a compartment opens up to an additional bedroom with a capacity of one. It is a perfect fit for children and having guests over for the night.

Sofa-Cum-Bed

Source: Pexels

Sofa-cum-beds is a trend which has fallen in and out with people. In a time where 1BHK housing is on the rise, sofa-cum-beds are back in. They look like any other 3 seater sofa but remove the cushions and there is a folding out bed. This bed is very comfortable and can fit two adults and is perfect for a last-minute guest.

Bunk Beds

Source: Pixabay

You don’t need to sell this idea to anyone. Bunk beds have been a craze ever since they hit the market. They are very popular amongst kids and primarily marketed for them. They are a classic saving space strategy. It leaves a lot of room for your kids to play around in the room. Along with saving space, they are a lot of fun. One variant of it is adding a small slide to the other side for kids to play on.

Moon Chaise Lounge

Moon Chaise Lounges are the perfect example of a multi-tasker. These chairs are so designed that individual pieces can be joined in multiple ways to create furniture based on your needs. The pieces can be arranged to create an easy chair, bed or a desk. They generally come in bold and bright colours which are perfect for your living room or the kid’s playroom.

Full Wall Bed Kit

Source: unsplash

Full wall bed kits are one of the best ways to combine a shelf and bed. While the bed faces out, a small cabinet and drawer combination will be installed along the walls. They can either be used as a semi wardrobe to hang your ties, scarves, belts etc or as a side table. It’s convenient and does not take much space

Collapsible Dining Table

Collapsible dining tables are a great way to save some space. These tables are designed to expand from four-seaters to a six-seater. A complex mechanism underneath the table with ease expands the table into a six seater to accommodate your family and friends. While the mechanism is complex, even a child can easily expand or contract the table.

Conclusion

We are living in an era where we believe in decluttering. While a household requires some basic amenities to make it feel like a home, doesn’t mean you need to compromise on style. The above-mentioned furniture is perfect for someone looking to get the most out of their furniture.

Room Decor Ideas for Parents Room

Our parents are the most important people in our lives. As they have fulfilled all our needs as children, it is our duty as grown-ups to provide them with the same. If you are living with your parents, you have understood that their needs are different than that of a young adult. Following are some of the ways that you can better decorate your parent’s room.

Attractive colour scheme

Source: Pixels

As their age starts to show, parents are more likely to spend more time in the bedroom. It is their haven where they feel most comfortable. Therefore, you should think about painting the interior with some attractive colours. Use a colour scheme that helps elevate their mood. Warm shades of brown, gold, orange and yellow brighten the room. If they have a favourite colour, lean in that direction but nothing too dull.

Bed with Optimal Height

Source: Unsplash

A bed is the core of a bedroom. It is what ties the entire room together. For adults above a certain age, one needs to make sure that the bed is the right height for their comfort and security. When sitting on the bed, your parents’ feet should rest on the floor comfortably with the knees being at right angles to the floor. The optimal height is 20 to 23 inches from floor to top of the mattress.

Slip-Resistant Flooring

Source: Pexels

The most serious injury that elderly parents are susceptible to is a fall. This is very common on floors with smooth surfaces. It is advised to remove smooth tiles and add anti-skid flooring techniques like laminating and wood. If you’re not keen on changing the tiling then you can add carpeting to the floor or just add a big rug.

Room to Walk

Coordination reduces as people start to grow older. It is important to give them enough space to walk. One way of doing this is by reducing furniture clutter. You can place the wardrobes along the walls and avoid unnecessary furniture like sofas and tables. The walkways to the door and the bathroom should be clear. If adding furniture, go for minimal and small pieces like side tables, drawer chest and reading table.

Here Comes the Sun

Source: Unsplash

Since parents are more likely to spend their mornings in their bedroom, they lack access to the early morning sun. Make sure to have an east-facing window so that they can be greeted by the rising sun. Other than brightening up the room, it also helps fight mould and pathogens which are bound to cause respiratory problems. Add adequate lighting along with dimmers for night time. Make sure to use white bulbs for areas which are used for reading.

Add a Little Greenery

Source: Unsplash

Bringing plants into the room is known to improve the overall appeal of a room. Watching a plant grow is a great way to enhance your mood. Green is also a colour which is easy on the eyes. Plants like aloe vera, succulence, English Ivy, Peace Lily, and money plants are known to purify the surrounding air and thrive indoors. You can place the plants in the room or if you have an attached balcony create a miniature garden.

Everything in Reach

Source: Unsplash

The elderly have difficulty in finding and reaching for things, especially if they have just woken up. Make sure that everything they need is available within a few feet of where they are sleeping. Best way to do this is by using a side table. They should drawers with enough space to keep an emergency call button, medication, phone, water and late-night snacks.

Ease of Use

Source: Pixabay

Elderly develop many medical issues over the years. One common is joint and muscle pain. When creating an ideal room for them, make sure to keep ease-of-use on your mind. When installing hardware, gravitate towards lever-style handles rather than doorknobs. Use large door knobs and open shutters wherever feasible. Whatever hardware you go for, make sure they move smoothly and with minimal effort.

Scenic Murals

A blank wall which is painted in your favourite colour may not always stimulate the joy that you would like in your room. If your parents are more into a scenic view then you can create a mural on one of their walls, preferably the one facing their bed. You can either commission an artist to paint something specific or buy wallpaper with a scenic picture on it.

Double Up on Comforters

Source: Pixabay

Parents in their later age are known to feel the temperatures at extremes. While hot days are manageable, cold days cause them joint and bone aches. Make sure to buy more than one comforter or buy a comforter capable of keeping them warm. You can also add a small throw for their bed which they can wrap around them while sitting and watching the television.

Comfortable Bed Sheets

A bed and mattress may be the best in the market, but bed sheets make all the difference. Make sure to buy multiple bedsheets preferably cotton, with a high thread count. You can either buy patterned or blank bed sheets, whichever best suits your parent’s liking.

Daybed

Source: Pixabay

A daybed is a good option if your parents have a room with large floor space. They are a good alternative to a reading space and can be used to entertain friends and family. They are also large enough if your parents want to squeeze in a quick 20-minute shut-eye during the day.

Hidden Hamper

Source: Unsplash

As reducing clutter for more walking space is something to strive for, a hidden hamper is a good option. This way you can reduce the amount of furniture in the room and hiding away the dirty clothes also gives a tidy look to their room

Conclusion

Old age is a difficult time for our parents. Daily tasks don’t come to them as easy as they do to youngsters. The one place that they consider their safe space is the bedroom. It is our duty as children to make this safe space as comfortable to them as possible. The above-stated ideas will not only make their lives easier but also help them enjoy their room better.

Suitable Colors for Bedroom

While we do admit that waking up early and getting out of a cozy bed may not always be fun, creating a bedroom that is mood-boosting and energizing might make it a lot easier. There is a strong case for a colorful bedroom since light and colors have an effect on our mood. You will definitely find something to emulate in the beautiful examples of colorful bedrooms listed below, irrespective of whether you choose to introduce those pops of color with artwork, bedding or paint.

1. Light Lilac

Designed by Cathy Chapman, this lavender oasis is proof of the fact that you can decorate with color while being simultaneously understated. This little nook exudes a serene, calm vibe although it is bursting with shades of lavender. The key trick in this design is to stick to a color palette of muted pastels. Cathy Chapman worked within a purple spectrum in this bedroom, while keeping things fascinating with contrasting shapes, textures and finishes.

2. Khaki Green

Designed by Heidi Caillier, this guest bedroom is painted in a nature-inspired, soothing green shade. It brings out all the other accent colors used throughout the area for a nice cohesive whole, and is fitting for the environment.

3. Ice Blue

When you walk into the bedroom, a soothing soft blue would feel like a breath of fresh air. This color adds a dreamy, ethereal quality to every space. However, what makes it particularly well-suited for the bedroom is the versatility that it offers. The makeshift side-table accent chair and the linen bedding contribute to that undone, easy elegance.

4. Light Gray

Designed by Jean Liu, an ultra pale shade of gray accentuates the indigo and green tones used in this bedroom. If you are looking for a subtle neutral tone that will be less jarring on your eyes than a bright white, you should opt for a similar shade.

5. Lemon Yellow

It is highly recommended to consult the color wheel at every step of the decorating procedure. From ideating to shopping, knowing which colors complement one another makes everything simpler. Want an instance of a job well done? Designed by Juan Carretero, this yellow and gray bedroom is your answer. Yellow undoubtedly represents cheer. Therefore, this is the color for you if you want your bedroom to exude energy and warmth. You will love how a more playful element is brought into the more traditional bedroom with the bright, striped ceiling.

6. Soft Black

Although we often think of crisp, light hues or bright whites when trying to open up for a smaller space, there’s also a good case for going a shade darker. Inkier tones, in reality, are known to amplify small spaces. They also set the right mood in the bedroom. For instance in this bedroom, the soft black paint color makes it feel intimate and special in ways you would never be able to accomplish with a lighter hue.

7. Caramel

Designed by Danielle Colding, you could take a cue from this bedroom and match your walls to your upholstered headboard. Here, a touch of intrigue is added by the studded headboard that blends right into the beige color behind it for a timeless look.

8. Cobalt Blue

A surefire way to make a bold statement are high gloss paints. Designed by Alisa Bloom, the liquidy, rich sheen of color in this bedroom bounces the light around a dark room. To illuminate the entire bedroom, she has used Fine Paints of Europe’s Delft Blue 4003 in Hollandlac Brilliant.

9. Cream

Beige is not boring. It is one of the best paint colors for a bedroom because it is warm, versatile, dependable and subtle. Additionally, a taupe shade that is super light will contrast well with the crisp bright interiors. This shade also brings to mind long walks along a sandy beach. Add pops of bright, cheerful colors with throw pillows and minimalistic decor

10. Deep Marine

Throughout this bedroom, decorator Heidi Caillier has opted for a deep green-ish navy hue to marry the brown, blue and green tones. She only painted the walls this rich tone upto the chair line to prevent it from being swallowed up in darkness. Another element of intrigue is added by this contrast.

11. Violet

Color blocking is your only solution if you want to give your room a little more shape or you simply want to keep the color from overpowering your space. There are various ways to play with this trend, from full-on murals to more simple and subtle toning treatments. Designed by GRT Architects, this bedroom is somewhere in the middle. Try painting your paneling and leave the walls light, only if you like what you see. Then, to show it off even more, opt for a low-to-the-ground bed.

12. Mint Green

Designed by J.P. Horton, with a retro-style crocheted coverlet and a slightly pistachio-hued upholstered headboard, this bedroom belongs in our dream summer getaway home. The warm wood side chair and the traditional landscape painting ground the space and work beautifully with the mint green paint.

13. Peach

Peachy blush walls contrast with the high-impact black and white wall art in this Scandinavian studio. However, you will find that softness reflected again in the oat-hued linen bedding and the jute rug. Blush pink pairs with steel blue tones without quarrel. It also pairs with bright red if you are going in for an unexpected contrast.

14. Deep Navy

For a balanced bedroom, paint your walls with a deep shade of navy and punctuate the depth with a vibrant bedding and crisp white accents. Designed by Mally Skok, the playful patterns in this space contrast well with the deep blue walls and give the room a touch of levity.

15. Sky Blue

Although this blue shade definitely makes a statement, it does not overwhelm the eye or overpower the space. This is because this shade is consistent. There is a strong sense of personality and cohesion in this bedroom since it is basically a cocoon of light blue. In conclusion, if you have a favorite color, why not see it become the theme of your bedroom?
